About Jez Galvan
Jez Galvan came to piercing sideways. She took a front-desk job at a tattoo shop with no intention of ever becoming an artist of any kind — and then kept getting pulled toward the piercing room, until it was the work she wanted. She apprenticed under Rose at Brown Pride, has been piercing professionally since 2022, and joined Apollo in September 2026. Her range runs from conch and flat through eyebrow and navel, and she is deliberate about the part most people rush: the mark. Nothing gets pierced until the client has seen the placement in the mirror and both of them are happy with it. She is fully bilingual, and works in English or Spanish.

Booking Jez — FAQ
What does a first appointment with Jez actually look like?
It starts as a conversation, not a procedure. Jez goes over the piercing you're interested in, talks through jewelry options, and checks your anatomy to make sure the placement you want will actually work on you — then you choose a piece together. You complete the consent forms before anything begins. She sets up her station, marks the placement, and hands you a mirror; the mark gets adjusted until you're both happy with it. Only once placement is settled does she do the final sterile setup and open her sterile supplies. Before she proceeds she walks you through exactly what to expect, and checks that you're comfortable. The piercing itself is done with sterile single-use equipment and appropriate jewelry. Afterward she cleans the area, takes you through aftercare, explains what's normal during healing versus what's a sign of trouble, and answers your questions. In her words, she wants it to feel welcoming rather than intimidating — especially if it's your first.
I'm nervous. How does Jez handle that?
By talking to you. She starts with what brought you in and what you want, which does more to settle nerves than reassurance does, and she keeps narrating as she goes — so you always know what is about to happen rather than waiting for a surprise. The same approach works for kids: no rushing, no countdown games, just being told what comes next.
What is she looking at when she marks a placement?
Your anatomy first — what the tissue will actually support, not what looks good in a photo of someone else. If you already wear jewelry in the area, she works with it: a new piercing has to sit right alongside what's already there, and the new piece and the existing ones get judged together rather than one at a time. Then you check the mark in the mirror and it gets moved until it's right.
How does Jez choose jewelry for a fresh piercing?
Three things at once: your anatomy, what flows with the body, and your own style. She treats it as the fun part of the appointment rather than an afterthought — the piece has to suit the placement and look like something you'd actually choose. Apollo's BVLA gold range is where most of that selection happens, alongside implant-grade titanium for healing jewelry.
What do clients most often get wrong about aftercare?
Switching jewelry out too early. A piercing that has stopped hurting is not a piercing that has finished healing, and changing the piece before the channel is ready is the single most common way people set their own healing back. Ask her when it's ready rather than guessing — the downsize is its own short appointment, and she'll tell you when to book it.
Which piercings is Jez known for?
Conch, flat, eyebrow and navel. The one she'll bring up herself is the tragus — a piercing she regularly sees done badly elsewhere and takes particular pride in getting right.
Where did Jez train, and what does she hold?
She completed her apprenticeship with Rose at Brown Pride over about three to four months, and has pierced professionally since 2022. She holds Bloodborne Pathogens certification and a California Body Art Practitioner registration, and is working toward membership of the Association of Professional Piercers.
What doesn't Jez pierce?
Genital piercings and tongue piercings. Apollo offers both — those route to Blue Mason and Bunny Vogt. Everything else on the piercing menu is in her range, including lip work, septum and nostril, navel and dermals, and kids' and teens' ear piercings from age 5.
Does Jez speak Spanish?
Yes — Jez is fully bilingual in English and Spanish, and is happy to run the whole appointment in Spanish: the anatomy check, the placement conversation, and the aftercare walkthrough. Aftercare is the part worth getting in your own language, since that is the half of the process you take home with you.
